Rönesans Holding received the bronze award in the ‘Gender Equality and Economic Inclusion’ category at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) 2022 Sustainability Awards. The Gender Equality Project, which aims to bring an inclusive perspective to human resources policies and procedures in the healthcare sector, was recognised by the EBRD for its tangible achievements.
According to the statement, Rönesans Holding, which operates in 27 countries across a wide geography, including Türkiye, Central Asia, Europe, the Middle East and Africa, in the fields of construction, real estate, healthcare, energy and petrochemicals, was recognised at the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD) 2022 Sustainability Awards with its Gender Equality Project.
The EBRD Sustainability Awards were presented during the EBRD 2022 Annual Meeting held in Marrakech, Morocco. Among the awards given for best practices across various categories, the bronze award in the ‘Gender Equality and Economic Inclusion’ category was presented to Rönesans Holding.
Having contributed to the development of Türkiye’s healthcare infrastructure by participating in the financing of city hospitals, the EBRD requires that the projects it supports meet environmental and social standards and promote inclusive and equitable policies to ensure long-term sustainability. In this context, one of the most significant initiatives implemented by Rönesans Holding in collaboration with the EBRD has been the Gender Equality Project in its healthcare investments.
The project, which was first implemented as a pilot at Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital, developed and operated by Rönesans Holding in partnership with Sojitz of Japan, strengthened Rönesans’ human resources processes, policies and procedures in a comprehensive manner, including contractual positions, and promoted equal opportunities for women and men in the healthcare sector. One of the immediate outcomes of the project was the opening of a nursery during the pandemic, providing support, safety, motivation, a sense of belonging and improved work-life balance for healthcare professionals working under high-risk conditions.
‘We will continue to deliver projects that benefit society’
İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, Chair of the Board of Rönesans Holding, stated that they evaluate their distinguished projects with a strong focus on sustainability and social impact, and emphasised that the Gender Equality Project is one of the most important initiatives carried out in collaboration with the EBRD.Kayaalp said, “As part of the project, we strengthened Rönesans’ human resources processes, policies and procedures in a comprehensive way and promoted equal opportunities for women and men in the healthcare sector. As a result of these efforts, we were honoured with the ‘Gender Equality and Economic Inclusion’ award at the EBRD 2022 Sustainability Awards. This meaningful recognition has crowned our work. We will continue to intensify our efforts to increase women’s participation in the economy and raise awareness of gender equality in every region where Rönesans Holding operates, and we will implement new projects in this area.”
