The Başakşehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital Project is Turkey’s third largest health investment project under a Public Private Partnership (PPP) agreement model launched by the Ministry of Health and will provide services to İstanbul and its neighboring provinces. Planned to provide healthcare services to 32,600 patients, the project completed in 2020.

In addition to connections through Yavuz Sultan Selim Bridge and TEM access roads, a planned metro station will enable people living in Istanbul to reach the most convenient healthcare services in the fastest and most comfortable way.

With a combined bed capacity of 2,682 and an indoor construction area of 1 million m2, the Başakşehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital is recognized as the “World’s Largest Seismically Isolated Building” with 2,068 seismic isolators which are installed in its main hospital building. Equipped with world-class cutting-edge isolators, the Başakşehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital is able to seamlessly carry out all its operations, even during and after the most severe earthquake scenarios.

The Başakşehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital includes a 2,354-bed Main Hospital, a 200-bed Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital and a 128-bed Psychiatric Hospital. The main hospital facility consists of six buildings surrounding a shared core building and includes the following hospitals:

General Hospital with a bed capacity of 469
Cardiovascular Diseases Hospital with a bed capacity of 327
Neurology and Orthopedics Hospital with a bed capacity of 299
Children’s Hospital with a bed capacity of 521
Gynecology Hospital with a bed capacity of 359
Oncology Hospital with a bed capacity of 379
Psychiatry Hospital with a bed capacity of 128
Physical Therapy and Rehabilitation Hospital with a bed capacity of 200

Launched by Rönesans Healthcare Investment in partnership with the Japan-based Sojitz Corporation, the Başakşehir Çam & Sakura City Hospital was recognized as the “PPP Deal of the Year” at the highly prestigious Thomson Reuters’ Project Finance International Awards for its financial closure of JPY 163 billion. Submitted to ENR’s award committee by ARUP, an engineering consultancy firm offering know-how and experience to Turkish market since 1982, the project outperformed nominees from 21 countries across six continents to win this award, a global testament to the engineering success of the Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital project.
