The construction of the Mersin – Adana – Osmaniye – Gaziantep High Standard Railway Line and the supply of electromechanical systems are being carried out by Rönesans. The Project is executed on EPC-F model and financed by UK Export Finance (UKEF) credit agency.
A fourtrack railway line of approximately 76 km is being constructed between Mersin and Adana, while a doubletrack, highstandard railway line is being built between Adana and Gaziantep. The upgraded line, designed for a speed of 200 km/h, reaches a total length of 312.5 km, consisting of the 286 km project route along with the addition of the Gaziray connection.
The travel time between Mersin and Gaziantep, which currently stands at 6 hours and 23 minutes, will be reduced to 2 hours and 15 minutes and thanks to the electrified line, 157,000 tons of carbon emissions will be prevented annually, enabling a more sustainable mode of transportation.
Upon completion, the project aims to transport an average of 7 million passengers and approximately 100 million tons of cargo per year, while achieving 80% less energy consumption per ton compared to road transportation. It also comprises 35 million m³ of earth movements and 2 million m³ of concrete works.
The project will establish a railway connection between four major cities recognized for their commerce, culture, tourism, agriculture, and gastronomy. By creating an integrated transportation and logistics backbone between ports, airports, industrial zones, and health and education centers, it will accelerate regional development, contribute to the modernization of Turkey’s railway infrastructure, and provide strategic support for sustainable transportation transformation.
