Having delivered more than 1,000 projects across approximately 40 countries and generated $50 billion in revenue from international projects to date, Rönesans has brought together its engineering and construction capabilities and long-term investments under Rönesans Infrastructure. Ranked among the world’s 50 largest international contractors, the company recently showcased its operations in the Netherlands, which it considers its second-largest market after Türkiye.
Focusing on social, transport, energy and digital infrastructure, the company’s total construction portfolio has reached €8.7 billion. Its European operations are supported by Ballast Nedam, a Dutch company with a history spanning nearly 150 years, and Heitkamp, which operates in Germany and Switzerland.
Bringing Economic Value to Türkiye
Rönesans Holding Chair of the Board of Directors İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp emphasised that the Group’s international growth also generates economic value for Türkiye, saying: “To date, we have undertaken approximately $13 billion in private sector investments in Türkiye. Through these investments, we have contributed to attracting $2.5 billion in foreign direct investment and securing $7.5 billion in international financing.”Noting that Rönesans works with approximately 3,000 Turkish manufacturers and 500 subcontractors on its international projects, İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp added: “Over the past 10 years, we have sourced more than $2 billion worth of goods and services from Türkiye for our overseas projects. For us, globalisation does not mean moving away from Türkiye. It means bringing the experience we have gained and the economic value we have created around the world back to Türkiye.”
Kemal Sağlam, CEO of Rönesans Infrastructure, explained that the new model spans everything from engineering to investment: “We are combining our long-established engineering and construction expertise in the Netherlands with our investment and project development capabilities in Türkiye. This enables us to offer an integrated business model that creates value throughout the entire lifecycle of infrastructure projects.”
$3 Billion Investment Potential in Data Centres
Rönesans Infrastructure has begun construction of its first data centre campus in Temelli, Ankara, as part of its strategic partnership with Digital Realty. Kemal Sağlam said the first phase is planned to provide more than 22 MW of IT capacity and over 10,000 square metres of white space, with operations expected to begin in 2028.The company also plans to develop a new campus in İstanbul. Once all phases are completed, it envisages reaching a total IT capacity of 204 MW and a total investment potential of up to $3 billion at the joint venture level.
Renewable Energy
Rönesans Enerji, in which TotalEnergies holds a 50% stake, increased its operational installed capacity from 166 MW in 2023 to 577 MW in the first half of 2026. While diversifying its predominantly hydroelectric portfolio through wind and solar investments, the company also plans to increase the capacity of the Gökçedağ Wind Farm from 130 MW to 192.5 MW.Making Its Mark in the Netherlands
Ballast Nedam, acquired by Rönesans in 2015, plays a key role in major infrastructure and construction projects across the Netherlands. According to Kemal Sağlam, these include the Johan Cruijff ArenA, the Gaasperdammertunnel and the Maasdeltatunnel. Waldorp Four, a 1,171-home development in The Hague, is taking shape as one of Europe’s major modular housing projects, while the Rijnkade project in Arnhem is strengthening the city’s flood defences. As part of the Windplanblauw project, 28 old wind turbines have been replaced with 24 new, more efficient turbines.Source: Serkan Arman / Milliyet
