Rönesans’ renewable energy installed capacity increases 3.5-fold
Rönesans has added another major investment to its portfolio in line with its growth strategy in renewable energy. The Gökçedağ Wind Power Plant, operated by Zorlu Enerji, has been acquired by Rönesans Yenilenebilir Enerji. With this transaction, Rönesans’ total installed renewable energy capacity has reached 577 MW. As a result, the Group’s installed capacity, which stood at 166 MW two years ago, has increased by approximately 3.5 times.Rönesans continues to strengthen its renewable energy portfolio. Pursuing its growth with determination in line with its goal of contributing to Türkiye’s clean energy transition and increasing sustainable, domestic energy generation, Rönesans Yenilenebilir Enerji, a group company of Rönesans Holding, has acquired the Gökçedağ Wind Power Plant, which has a total licensed grid connection capacity of 135 MW. Comprising wind turbines with a capacity of 2.5 MW each, the Gökçedağ Wind Power Plant stands out as a strategic renewable energy investment, offering high and sustainable energy generation thanks to its strong wind potential.
One step closer to our goal
İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, Chair of the Board of Directors of Rönesans Holding, said: “With the acquisition of the Gökçedağ Wind Power Plant, our installed capacity consisting entirely of green energy has reached 577 MW, while our renewable energy project portfolio has risen to 1,400 MW. Over the past two years, we have increased our renewable energy capacity by approximately 3.5 times. We currently have eight new investments under construction and development. By 2028, we aim to realise 2 GW of investments in green energy and become one of Türkiye’s three largest green energy players. We are proud to contribute to Türkiye’s energy transition and to build a cleaner, more resilient future.”
A strategic asset generating revenue from day one
As an asset that has been generating revenue since the first day of acquisition, the Gökçedağ Wind Power Plant will provide operational and financial contributions to Rönesans. Thanks to the efficient use of existing infrastructure, the plant also offers potential for capacity increases and new project development without the need for additional grid investments.Aiming to enhance operational efficiency by bringing all maintenance and operational activities in-house, Rönesans plans to utilise the existing infrastructure in the most efficient way through turbine repowering and capacity-increase investments. In this context, it is targeted to implement one of the first and largest turbine repowering projects in Türkiye by replacing some of the existing turbines with larger, more efficient next-generation turbines.
Through licence-permitted capacity increases and mechanical power-uprating applications, it is planned to increase the plant’s installed capacity and, in parallel, significantly boost annual energy generation.
