Highlights From Rönesans – March 26’

Advancing Gender Equality Through Collective Action

Rönesans Holding hosted a Gender Equality Conference, led by Chairperson İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, bringing together representatives from the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), the Business Against Domestic Violence Project (BADV), the European Bank for Reconstruction and Development (EBRD), the Support Foundation for Civil Society (STDV), and Rönesans.

The conference focused on gender equality policies, impactful practices, and the value created through collaboration across the private sector, civil society, academia, and international financial institutions.

Actress Merve Dizdar also joined the programme, sharing her journey as well as highlighting the importance of portraying women’s stories.

During the conference, Chairperson İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp shared the initiatives we have implemented in this field.

She emphasised that Rönesans’ efforts focus on strengthening women’s economic participation, increasing their visibility in social life, ensuring equal access to health and education, as well as supporting them, especially during times of crisis.

Rönesans continues to implement comprehensive programmes to support women’s safety, participation, and equal opportunities across our ecosystem:
  • A signatory of the UN Women’s WEPs since 2016.
  • 19,000 employees and stakeholders received gender equality training.
  • Our Domestic Violence Prevention Policy was introduced in 2025.
  • Healthcare services were provided to 54 million women in our hospitals, expanding access to advanced women’s health technologies.
  • HPV vaccination programmes for girls were launched in Adana Ceyhan, and we are among the first companies to offer this through our employees’ health insurance.
  • More than 6,600 breast cancer screenings were delivered in the regions where we operate renewable energy projects.
  • Women entrepreneurs were supported across our 12 shopping malls, which receive 114 million visitors annually, enabling 400 women to establish their own businesses through the Women’s Craft and Trade Festival.
  • Through joint programs with the United Nations Population Fund (UNFPA), UNICEF, Rönesans Volunteers, and various NGOs, we reached over 45,000 women and children in earthquake‑affected regions.
  • In Adana Ceyhan, our Polypropylene Production Plant and Liquid Bulk Terminal investment continues to support local employment, while our Welding Training Centre promotes equal opportunity for women entering the workforce.

In cooperation with the Support Foundation for Civil Society (Sivil Toplum için Destek Vakfı), we contribute to strengthening local civil society organisations through the Gender Equality Fund, aiming to enhance women’s access to economic, cultural, and social rights.
We remain committed to building a future where women can thrive safely, confidently, and equally in all aspects of life.

For Ballast Nedam International Projects, this contract marks an important step in further expanding our port and maritime portfolio in West Africa. It strengthens our long-term collaboration with Port Autonome de San Pedro and Dutch–Ivorian partners and creates a solid basis for potential follow-up in the design and construction phase.
