Rönesans Holding's group company in the Netherlands, Ballast Nedam, has implemented the clean water project in Sri Lanka.

With this project, Ballast Nedam is providing safe, clean water to 17,000 households based in 7 villages in the Hemmathagama region of Sri Lanka.

The villagers in question had been using the water from the river flowing through their villages for many years. However, the water in this river was not clean enough for human consumption. Thanks to the construction of a water purification plant and a 111-kilometer pipeline implemented by Dutch-based construction company, Ballast Nedam, approximately 100,000 people living in these 7 villages can now access safe, clean water from nearby mountain lakes.

In addition, Ballast Nedam continues to offer training to the local community on how to perform maintenance on the water purification system and pipelines; this helps the people in villages use the system efficiently so that their water needs are always met.
