Rönesans is a world-leading project development and construction group, building for a better society.
Primarily in Turkey and the Netherlands, but also in other European countries, CIS countries, the Far East, and the Caribbean,
we operate as a main contractor and investor in the construction, real estate, health, energy, and petrochemistry sectors.
At Rönesans, we are deeply saddened by the devastation caused by the earthquakes that struck on February 6. We offer our heartfelt condolences to the entire country.
We understand that by working collectively, we can heal the nation’s wounds and recover faster and become even more resilient. We are deeply committed to working towards realizing this goal.
Since the first earthquake struck, our 2,000-strong volunteer Rönesans team has been present in the field. Colleagues from our construction sites in the region have participated in search and rescue operations and have played a vital role in saving 190 people from the rubble. Within the first hours of the initial earthquake, our teams dispatched 147 pieces of construction machinery and equipment to the area and worked tirelessly to support the search and rescue efforts.
In addition, our Rönesans volunteers have been mobilized from the very beginning to provide critical aid to those affected by the earthquakes. To date, we have distributed over 1 million meals and have shipped 254 trucks of supplies to the region.
To address the urgent temporary shelter needs of the earthquake victims in the region, who at times had to endure below -10°C temperatures, our team opened the Malatya Erman Ilıcak Science High School and construction site camping areas. We accommodated over 2,000 earthquake victims on the first night in these shelters. To date, we have continued to host 3,500 earthquake victims daily in our first container city, 'Malatya Yaşam Kent,' and other temporary shelter centers in Malatya, with crucial support provided by our inspirational employees who volunteered to help in the region.
Moreover, we aim to start occupying all 2,000 of our containers, 1,500 in Malatya and 500 in Adıyaman, by mid-April; this will enable us to provide a solution to the temporary shelter problem for nearly 10,000 earthquake victims before the upcoming Ramadan Feast.
Thanks to the high-quality earthquake safety technologies we employed during construction, the city hospital projects we built in the region have provided exceptional non-stop public services in the aftermath of the earthquakes. For example, our Adana, Elazığ, İstanbul Başakşehir, and Bursa City Hospitals, which are now symbols of earthquake safety in Turkey, have provided inpatient healthcare services to 7,500 earthquake victims with referrals from the region.
We have been one of the most active communities in the region in providing psychological support, which is often overshadowed by other crucial issues such as search and rescue, food, and temporary shelter. We continue to offer uninterrupted psychological support to earthquake victims, particularly women and children, to help them overcome the severe traumas they have experienced. With the contributions of health group managers and employees, we contacted UCIM, which focuses on children's rights, as soon as the first unaccompanied child arrived at one of the hospitals constructed by Rönesans. We took immediate action during the first week of the disaster together with UCIM (Association for Combating Child Abuse / NGO) to care for unaccompanied minors. We assigned volunteer psychologists who have been working 24-hour shifts at Adana City Hospital to create psycho-social and post-traumatic support mechanisms. We have tried to support children in the best way possible, especially during this immensely challenging time. As a result, we established baby care rooms and a children's cinema in the region with the efforts of the real estate team. We also set up the BİNEFES Special Education Tent in the outdoor parking lot of the Rönesans constructed shopping mall in Kahramanmaraş in cooperation with TODEV (Turkish Autism Support and Education Foundation).
At Rönesans, we will continue to stand by our country and our fellow citizens during this incredibly difficult period, and we will overcome this disaster together, hand in hand.
Hospital in Istanbul Equipped with 2,068 Seismic Isolators
17March2023
Serdar Binzet, the Engineering Group President of Rönesans Holding, who supervised the construction of Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital, which is equipped with 2,068 seismic isolators, answered questions in a recent interview about the crucial importance of seismic isolators when it comes to building safety

Following the devastating earthquakes centered in Kahramanmaraş that affected 11 provinces, Turkey began to question the earthquake resistance of its buildings. Seismic isolators played a critical role in saving lives by keeping structures standing during the recent earthquakes. Several hospitals in the earthquake zone, including Adana City Training and Research Hospital, Kahramanmaraş Necip Fazıl City Hospital, and Elazığ Fethi Sekin City Hospital, remained intact thanks to seismic isolators.
The vast metropolis of İstanbul, where experts have frequently sounded the alarm about its buildings' lack of earthquake readiness, is home to the world's largest hospital with seismic isolators; Başakşehir Çam and Sakura City Hospital, built by Rönesans Holding, features 2,068 seismic isolators, making it one of the safest buildings in the city. In an interview with Sibel Atik from Ekonomist, Serdar Binzet, the Engineering Group President of Rönesans Holding, explained the technical features of the hospital and answered questions regarding the merits of seismic isolators.
Binzet addressed three important questions about seismic isolators. 1. Should seismic isolators be used in every building? 2. In which buildings should seismic isolators be mandatory? 3. Are seismic isolators expensive to install
