Building Sustainable Infrastructure and Urban Impact

Ballast Nedam: Advancing Infrastructure in the Netherlands

Ballast Nedam, together with Fluor Corporation under the ALSÉÉN consortium, has officially started the realisation phase of the new Merwedebrug project.

The project includes the construction of a new arch bridge with a 260-metre span and a movable section, designed to ensure safe road transport and efficient inland navigation. It represents a key step in improving traffic flow along one of the Netherlands’ main north–south corridors.

Revitalising Urban Life: Rijnkade in Arnhem

The renewed Rijnkade waterfront in Arnhem has been officially opened following extensive redevelopment works delivered by the construction consortium.

The project enhances urban space while integrating sustainability features, including shore power systems for vessels and the use of largely emission-free equipment during construction. The revitalised area now offers improved public spaces for walking, social interaction, and community life.
