Speaking at the award ceremony of the contest, the second of which was organized this year, İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Rönesans Holding, said, “We discovered the young potential throughout Turkey, which has given us further hope for the future. We need these young friends in order to become one of the top 10 companies of the world.”
Ranking the 37th in the list of the largest contracting companies of the world and the 10th one in Europe, Rönesans Holding announced winners of the “Design Sustainable Future” contest that it aims to traditionalize by organizing it for the second time this year. The award ceremony of the “Design Sustainable Future” contest which has turned into a huge social responsibility project by covering entire Turkey was organized on April 5.
The figures shaping the world of architecture and design in Turkey and throughout the world were on the stage during the workshop that was organized prior to the award ceremony, which was also attended by Dr. Erman Ilıcak, Chairman of the Rönesans Holding, and İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, Chairwoman of the Executive Board of Rönesans Holding. Besides Christophe Pillet, the worldwide known French architect, Murat Tabanlıoğlu, Murat Kader and Sefer Çağlar, who are among the most important architects of Turkey, were present at the workshop in which the finalists’ projects were discussed. While the architects shared their experiences with students, gave the following message to students: “believe in your own vision.”
GREEN AND INNOVATIVE PROJECTS COME TO THE FOREFRONT
1,930 persons and 1,930 persons from 125 different universities have applied for the contest, which was organized by Rönesans Holding that makes investments in the children and young people in the field of education in order to provide university students with the “sustainability culture.” This year, “Design Sustainable Future” contest, launched with the slogan of “Let the Sustainable Future Begin with You,” was organized in two categories, namely, the architecture and engineering, upon young people’s constant requests. As part of the contest consisting of the theme of “Green Buildings and Environment-Friendly Systems,” the aim was designated as the preparation of designs and projects in which environment-friendly systems complying with the sustainability criteria are used.The projects that applied to the contest organized by Rönesans Holding were evaluated by a jury consisting of lecturers from Istanbul Technical University (ITU), Middle East Technical University, Mimar Sinan University, Yıldız Technical University, Boğaziçi, Gazi, İnönü and Gebze Technical Universities, who are specialized in various branches.
Two contests, namely, the architecture and engineering, were organized this year. The awards were designated as follows: 20,000 TL for the first prize, 16,000 TL for the second prize, 14,000 TL for the third prize and 10,000 TL as the honorable mention.
