İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, Chair of the Board at Rönesans Holding: "Companies cannot operate solely for profit."



At the 'Responsible and Responsive Leadership' panel held during the Uludağ Economy Summit, İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, Chair of the Board at Rönesans Holding, stated, "Companies cannot operate solely for profit. They must act according to their responsibilities." 

The first day of the sessions at the Uludağ Economy Summit, held in Sapanca, has concluded. Speaking at the noteworthy panel focussing on 'Responsible and Responsive Leadership,' İpek Ilıcak Kayaalp, Chair of the Board at Rönesans Holding, said: "I believe that the finance, health, and education systems will shift in the coming period. Companies cannot operate solely for profit. They must act according to their responsibilities." 

Begüm Doğan Faralyalı, Chair of the Board at Doğan Holding, emphasised the importance of value-focused leadership, stating: "The deeper leaders root themselves, the more resilient they become in the event of storms. Value-focused leaders will lead the transformation of the world." 

Zeynep Bodur Okyay, President and CEO of Kale Group, highlighted that her company prioritises transformation and social awareness and carries out social investment programs through its foundation. Stressing that cultivating entrepreneurship represents the best starting point for Türkiye, Okyay said: "We decided to invest in this area as part of our responsible leadership approach in the new world."



Sustainability is on Everyone's Agenda

Speaking at the panel on 'Sustainable Business Models and Strategies for the 21st Century,' Osman Arıoğlu, Acting Chair of the Board at Eksim Holding, emphasised the importance of environmental protection and waste prevention. 

Adil Sani Konukoğlu, Chair of the Board at Sanko Holding, expressed that sustainability is on the agenda for everyone from the business world to the art world. Highlighting the challenges of implementing sustainability and change in traditional companies, Konukoğlu stated: "We are currently talking about the impact of artificial intelligence, which is now part of life. We all have to change.”

Ebru Dildar Edin, a Fibabank board Member, touched on the significance of change, saying, "The world is changing, Türkiye is changing. It's crucial for stakeholders to work together during this process."
 
Murat Bilgiç, CEO of the Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye (TSKB), indicated that his company integrates sustainability with various themes, noting that more than 80% of its loans are long-term and compatible with green transformation.
 
Ömer Özgür Tort, CEO of Migros Group, pointed out that transformation in established companies requires more specialised effort, emphasising the value of efficient growth models.
