Financing of Türkiye’s Largest Licence-Exempt Wind Power Project New EUR 54.4 Million Loan Agreement between TSKB and Rönesans Enerji

18 August 2025
TSKB and Rönesans Enerji have secured a total financing of EUR 54.4 million for a 35 MW licence-exempt wind power plant in İzmir and a 15.6 MW solar power plant in Kırşehir.
A loan agreement totalling EUR 54.4 million has been signed between TSKB and Rönesans REH Enerji Hizmetleri A.Ş., a subsidiary of Rönesans Enerji A.Ş., to support renewable energy investments. The financing is allocated to a 35 MW licence-exempt (distributed) wind power plant in İzmir and a 15.6 MW licence-exempt (distributed) solar power plant in Kırşehir, both of which will be developed to meet the self-consumption needs of the relevant group company. The investment loan will be structured as EUR 42.5 million with an 8.5-year maturity for the wind power project, and EUR 11.9 million with an 8-year maturity for the solar project. TSKB CEO Ozan Uyar said: “With this cooperation with Rönesans Enerji, we are delighted to contribute to increasing our country’s environmentally friendly production capacity and strengthening sustainability awareness in the energy sector. In the coming period, we will continue to expand our support for multi-faceted development with further investments in this field.” Emre Hatem, President of the Energy Group at Rönesans Holding, added: “With our ability to secure favourable financing conditions, we are bringing to life Türkiye’s largest licence-exempt (distributed) wind power project. Our target is to reach 2,000 MW of installed capacity in renewable energy by 2028.’’

A new financing agreement totalling EUR 54.4 million has been signed between TSKB (Industrial Development Bank of Türkiye) and Rönesans REH Enerji Hizmetleri A.Ş., a subsidiary of Rönesans Enerji A.Ş., to support renewable energy investments. Under the agreement, renewable energy projects developed by Rönesans REH Enerji Hizmetleri A.Ş. for the self-consumption of a Rönesans Holding group company will be supported. The financing covers two major licence-exempt (distributed) projects planned within the scope of the company’s rights to develop and operate wind and solar power facilities in İzmir and Kırşehir.

The investment loan has been allocated as EUR 42.5 million with an 8.5-year maturity for the 35 MW licence-exempt (distributed) wind power plant to be developed in İzmir, and EUR 11.9 million with an 8-year maturity for the 15.6 MW licence-exempt (distributed) solar power plant to be developed in Kırşehir. This financing represents a significant step in line with Rönesans Enerji Group’s ambition to increase low-carbon energy generation. Once completed, the projects will not only meet part of the electricity needs of Rönesans Holding companies from renewable sources but will also contribute meaningfully to environmental sustainability.

Commenting on the agreement, TSKB CEO Ozan Uyar said: “Throughout TSKB’s 75-year journey, we have consistently supported sustainable investments in line with our country’s multi-faceted development and green transition objectives. We take pride in playing an important role in Türkiye’s energy transformation through the major projects we have financed to date. With this cooperation with Rönesans Enerji, we are delighted to contribute to increasing our country’s environmentally friendly production capacity and strengthening sustainability awareness in the energy sector. In the coming period, we will continue to expand our support for multi-faceted development with further investments in this field.”

ANOTHER MAJOR STEP IN RENEWABLE ENERGY

Emre Hatem, President of the Energy Group at Rönesans Holding, stated that Rönesans Enerji had secured another significant financing facility thanks to its ability to create favourable financing conditions: “With this self-consumption investment, our group companies will meet part of their electricity needs with green, carbon-free electricity by 2026. One of the most important aspects of this investment is that it represents Türkiye’s largest licence-exempt (distributed) wind power project. Under the Renewable Energy Investment and Supply Agreement (YEYTA) model, we build and operate the energy facility required by the consumer and fully finance the investment. In this way, the consumer secures green electricity for their own needs without any additional cost, while also reducing their electricity expenses.”

Hatem added that, as one of the fastest-growing companies in Türkiye’s energy sector, Rönesans Enerji is rapidly continuing its renewable energy investments in line with its target of reaching 2,000 MW installed capacity by 2028.
